Aladdin: So here we were, early 1990's, and the ডিজনি Renaissance was at its peek. The studios had produced two of the highest grossing animated films of all time and still were pushing on. However the team suffered a tragic loss with the death of lyricist Howard Ashman who surprisingly had had a large amount of creative input on the পূর্ববর্তি two films. (He named Ariel) It was even his idea to make the পরবর্তি ডিজনি animated feature, Aladdin released on November 25, 1992. However, much to the disappointment of many, this would be the last picture to showcase a royal fairytale princess for the পরবর্তি impending 17 years, Princess Jasmine.

জুঁই is unique for a plethora of reasons. One being the fact that she is the only princess of the ডিজনি Lineup whom the story does NOT revolve around. Not surprisingly, this lends to the fact that researching her is slightly আরো difficult without deviating into the নকশা of the other characters.

জুঁই is also the first princess of any ethnicity. Keeping in mind that this film was released pre-September 11th, (not to say 9-11 affected the way we view these characters today) but unlike the upcoming princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog, racial sensitivity and political correctness was surprisingly not as touchy an issue in the creation of a Muslim princess.

In fact, in the book 1001 Arabian Nights the story of আলাদীন (and subsequently the princess) was Asian. However আলাদীন was most likely not originally apart of the stories dating back to about 1000 A.D., but was added to the compilation দ্বারা Antoine Galland, a French author/translator, who published the বই in 12 volumes between 1704 and 1717.

While the ডিজনি version underwent many contemporary changes, the princess’s predicament of being pressured to find a suitor remained relatively the same. However, originally the princess's name was Badroulbadour and was very vain and spoiled.

 জুঁই Guy
Jasmine Guy

Obviously, ডিজনি writers decided to change this personality flaw along with her name to something আরো 'relatable'. It turns out জুঁই was their first choice as it was among the most জনপ্রিয় girl names in the early 90's largely due to actress Jasmine Guy. Although some early sketches were based from some of her features, her look came off as too severe.

 Beth Allen

Yet another unique detail about জুঁই is the fact that her final look was not based after any particular celebrity. Mark Henn who has been partially responsible for the নকশা of every ডিজনি princess since Ariel, turned to a number of exotic মডেল সমাহার to base জুঁই off of but ultimately was dissatisfied. He describes having seen a guest at ডিজনি World with long black hair and knew he wanted that feature but was having difficulty finding a face for the princess. Eventually Henn looked in his wallet to find a high school graduation ছবি of his younger sister Beth Allen. He did a concept sketch based off of her which the directors liked and ended up approving.

জুঁই vs Taj Mahal and Arabian text
Jasmine vs Taj Mahal and Arabian text

In a similar spirit that incorporated the angular look of medieval tapestries into Sleeping Beauty, Art Director, Bill Perkins wanted to incorporate the look of Arabian text and architecture into Aladdin. Once such place to compare with জুঁই is the Taj Mahal. Although, NOT Arabian but Indian, the Taj Mahal is located in the city of Agra which is arguably the inspiration for the fictional city Agrabah. At closer inspection of জুঁই আপনি may notice similar arches and curves in her clothes, jewelry, hair and features.

early sketches of জুঁই vs আলাদীন
early sketches of জুঁই vs Aladdin

With the finalized look of princess জুঁই being whole-heartedly approved, the directors faced a problem. আলাদীন had been developed to be a young, scrawny underdog of a character. However Jeffrey Katzenberg, Disney's then Chairman, believed the romantic chemistry between the two characters would be 'unconvincing' (that the princess would never find him attractive). So, at the last minute, animators were told to make আলাদীন older and resemble Tom Cruise. Therefor in this case, Jasmine’s নকশা influenced that look of the hero.

Many people are unaware of the two major themes representing the Princess which are presented in her first scene. The first is the water fountain. জুঁই was chosen to be dressed in a light blue specifically to represent water, the most precious substance one can find in a desert. The princess's first scene was situated পরবর্তি to a ফোয়ারা to emphasize this connection.

The সেকেন্ড theme is a caged bird. Also, in the first scene we see জুঁই release birds from their cage. This was meant as a metaphor for her plight; While she is “taken care of [and] provided for” she is caged from a world she has never seen and yearns to be released. We see this theme again in Jasmine's birdcage-shaped boudoir.

The whole concept of জুঁই escaping the palace in the dead of night to experience the 'real' world is directly inspired from the 1953 classic Audrey Hepburn film Roman Holiday. Hepburn plays a Princess Ann from a nondescript country visiting Rome. After a slight emotional breakdown, the princess sneaks out of the royal embassy and enjoys living as a regular person for a দিন going দ্বারা the name Anya. (which would later be the name used for Don Bluth’s misplaced princess Anastasia) She meets a guy, they fall for each other, her bodyguards come after her...all of which is in Jasmine's story~Great movie. Watch it!

As I've mentioned before, this movie has directly inspired pretty much every ডিজনি Princess since Sleeping Beauty.

In conclusion, জুঁই is an asset to the ডিজনি Princess lineup. She is a pioneer so to speak, being the first heroine of color ডিজনি had ever produced. Notably so, every following addition to the Princess lineup has been ethnic with Pocahontas, মুলান and now Tiana. আরো than that, জুঁই represents a fight for civil rights, to fight against laws that stifle life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For this, she continues to represent one of the most important messages to our society today. Whether it be racial tolerance, social hierarchy, civil rights অথবা something more, each person can take a lesson from her and her story. She broke a long-held exclusive bearier for girls (and boys) paving the way in letting children believe that anyone of any race can be a princess and আরো importantly, to fight for what আপনি believe in.

Since it isn't so much left until বড়দিন I decided to write a few প্রবন্ধ here on that theme, not sure how many I'll do, but here's the first one. আপনি may not remember this song, but link in case আপনি haven't heard the song. Anyway originally the song had the 6 first ডিজনি Princesses গান গাওয়া the song, but I decided to redo the song a bit দ্বারা adding 6 new princesses and their parts has new lyrics. I decided to exclude Merida, so the new parts will be dedicated to Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa. I'll write on each part which princess that has that part, anyway hope you'll...

What I will write will be similar to what I wrote on the last article. Most of my opinions are the same except for Aladdin. I wanted to write an updated প্রবন্ধ because I finally rewatched Aladdin. Please no rude comments. Enjoy!

12. Brave- I despise this movie I really don't like Merida. While she may be a strong I think she is just rude and annoying. The film is so forgettable. I haven't seen the film in about 4 years and I don't plan on seeing it again.

12. Frozen- As many of আপনি know, like ব্রেভ I detest this movie. The characters are very irritating & the movie was trying way too hard...

Charm-the Real Feminine Mystique:
"A girl need not have perfect features nor an outstanding figure to be popular. But she should have charm. As Sir James Barrie had Maggie say in his play, What Every Woman Knows, 'If আপনি have it, আপনি don't need to have anything else; and if আপনি don't have it, it doesn't much matter what else আপনি have.'

Once আপনি have acquired charm, you'll probably never lose it. Especially after আপনি have discovered how much happier your life is because আপনি are considered to be that charming girl down the street.

To be charming আপনি need not to be any particular age, weight অথবা height...

Inspired দ্বারা link, who did an amazing job(! <3), I really wanted to do my own version with পছন্দ Openings. I actually really প্রণয় the original fairy tale concept of the ডিজনি Princesses and I প্রণয় the openings that give a আরো magical and fairy tale kind of feel. (By the way, I am primarily trying to stick to the first 2-4 minutes.) So here is my ranking of the DP film openings, I hope আপনি guys enjoy this light read! :D

12. Frozen: ফ্রোজেন Heart/Ice Opening
I personally found this to be uninteresting and irrelevant to the film's magic, fairy tale and princesses (mostly) in the film. No explanation...

Here's my quick top10 পছন্দ of ডিজনি Princess movie songs. I get stuck to a new tune অথবা lyrics far easily, if its hummable and peppy especially. I like listening to songs and don't have particular fixed tastes in genres. Though i find, i tend to gravitate towards pop, rock and Indian music. Very rarely I enjoy classical music, although some that I প্রণয় become my all time পছন্দ and they don't die-out. I guess that's how classic সঙ্গীত is. Anyways, this is my current তালিকা of শীর্ষ 10 favrorites songs from DP movies, it keeps changing for sure as I সরানো onto newer songs.

.... অথবা Are They? I keep hearing this massive distortion that Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and sometimes others are "unrealistically perfect". Well first of all, they're not actually "perfect" but yes they strive for it and come pretty close. The number one reason? The earlier DPs were made in a time where families were still valued as well as good morals and they were on their best behavior in front of children, hoping that the kids would learn to embrace positive traits and reject negative traits so they would be আরো positive people. They cared আরো about well-roundedness, being modest...

Okay, so I have come across a lot of criticism against Merida that she is childish, rude, reckless, selfish and what not. But since she's my 2nd পছন্দ princess, i'd like to put up a case in her favor for people to consider and see her in better light. I have tried to dissect the movie scenes, probed into possible perspective on various minor details that may have been overlooked.

Why she isn't sophisticated as others:
She no doubt loves both her mother and father, but Merida takes off a part of feisty, loud and unapologetically honest side from her father. She loves to fight with him, laughing...

The saddest moments from DP চলচ্চিত্র that made me cry and most often they still do. Some are close to হৃদয় while some are so well enacted and animated that i'm moved দ্বারা the simplicity of emotions.

13. 3 good পরী put the entire kingdom to sleep:
Despite their best of efforts, they lose Aurora to the spell and the only way to make things work is to put the entire kingdom to sleep, waking only when she awakens. It makes me sad to see them blame themselves for this loss. It doesn't make me cry though, but yes, it puts me in a sad mood.

So I've been পাঠ করা that the "Prettiest Princess" ranking is sort of like a right of passage প্রবন্ধ that all of the অনুরাগী here on ফ্যানপপ do so I figured it was time for my own. Instead of just doing a physical beauty ranking, I wanted to do an সামগ্রিক beauty ranking instead. I personally see ranking women based only on their physical beauty as objectifying them so I am kind of confused that it's not looked at that way here on fanpop? (Not saying this to judge অথবা condone others but just out of genuine curiosity and confusion considering the way some অনুরাগী have reacted to perceived objectification...

Like I stated in my last wallpost I'm about to lose my grandmother and so I decided to write an প্রবন্ধ about some of the Saddest Moments in the DP চলচ্চিত্র in no particular order (but I'll mention my number 1 in the end of the article). So anyway hope you'll like this article

Brave: The 2nd Sunrise
I may not be a big অনুরাগী of Brave, but this scene is sad, when I first saw this movie in the cinemas I cried during this scene and I still find this scene to be quite sad

Cinderella: The Dress Ripping Scene
This scene is so sad to watch everytime, সিন্ড্রেলা had the chance of finally getting out of the...

If any of আপনি are familiar with character stylization অথবা really art in general আপনি might like this article. I'm talking about character stylization in the sense that when the artist is also the লেখক of the character's personality and has written out their every thought in simply the way they are designed. This can also be called "interpreted art" as anyone can perceive it differently, but a common factor still remains that everyone agrees on. BASICALLY I'm going to "guess" what the princess' personality is like based on the way she's drawn, see what the general consensus is on her personality...

1.Pocahontas and Merida are currently the only Princesses to not originate from the traditional fairy tales.

2.Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and Belle are currently the only Princesses to not be voiced দ্বারা the respective নায়িকা from their original films.

3.Belle is the only ডিজনি Princess to have hazel eyes.

4. মুলান is also the first ডিজনি Princess to not actually be a princess. All the others are either royal দ্বারা birth, অথবা marry into royalty.

5.Ariel is the only ডিজনি Princess who was not born a human.

6.Both মুলান and Tiana are left-handed.

7.. Rapunzel’s eyes are the biggest compared...

My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music

This song reminds me of the scene in the woods after she's been scared দ্বারা the dark shadowed shapes of the trees. When she asks the জন্তু জানোয়ার what they would do and starts গান গাওয়া With a Smile and a Song. Well this be an alternative song অথবা whilst she' গান গাওয়া she could be imagining her favourite things. I can also Snow White গান গাওয়া this. It does require a positive sounding vocal so it makes sense.

Since this section has been very inactive lately I decided to fresh it up দ্বারা লেখা another article, about my পছন্দ ডিজনি Princesses, hope you'll like this প্রবন্ধ :)

13. Merida

She's the only ডিজনি Princess that I don't like at all, but I don't dislike her either, I feel neutral towards her. The main reason might sound weird, but it's mainly because I don't think she fits in the ডিজনি Princess lineup, to be perfectly honest I would appreciate her character আরো if she wasn't an official ডিজনি Princess. Besides that there's nothing wrong about her character except her temper, she's...
