My Issue with Glee’s Message on Bullying

This is something I need to get off my chest considering how depressed and emotional I've been lately but this passed episode really hit প্রথমপাতা for me making me feel worse than I do now. Read after the cut and please read with an open mind these are just my thoughts based on personal experience and what I took from স্বতস্ফূর্ত and this episode:

We all know bullying is wrong, bullying of any kind is wrong no matter who আপনি are অথবা how আপনি look at it and kids can be extremely mean. We seen this first hand in person and over the internet there's constant bullying. The problem with স্বতস্ফূর্ত is when it comes to the topic of bullying they seemed to get their wires crossed. What they're teaching us on this প্রদর্শনী is that its wrong to bully gay people অথবা defend yourself if a gay person is belittling আপনি (in a disgusting manner) to a breaking point. I'm all for gay rights and the gay community and I agree its human rights and they deserved to be treated like any other person, that includes the bad with the good. But in no way do they have as much right to bully someone as anyone else, bullying is wrong period!

On স্বতস্ফূর্ত they're trying to victimize all their gay characters, just count how many there are: Kurt, Santana, Brittany, Blaine, Karofsky and Sebastian (even though he's had no confrontation as of yet) and make us feel sympathy for all of them. My হৃদয় will always go out to Kurt but I'm seriously tired of him being treated as RM's PSA boy, its not fair to Chris Colfer's অভিনয় and গান গাওয়া talents. Now when it comes to the situation of Karofsky and Kurt that kind of bullying was dangerous, it wasn't always about being verbally abusive আরো like life-threatening ("I'm gonna kill আপনি if আপনি tell anyone about me" thing). Dave was obviously angry at himself because of his sexuality and how he acted was completely animalistic so he lashed out at someone who he saw was weaker. Of course we're all gonna sympathize with Kurt we were just as scared for his life as he was and him leaving allowed for both characters to grow as better people (Dave slowly coming to terms with his actions and প্রদর্শিত হচ্ছে remorse). Now the Santana/Finn situation we enter another case of bullying, the outright verbally abusive bullying and once again the person dishing out all the abuse is another gay character.

For the passed 2 seasons the writers have used the Santana character as an excuse to make bullying funny without delivering any deserved consequences. Everyone in the fandom seems laugh and excuse whatever Santana says and does right? YES! Did anyone laugh when Karofsky was picking on Kurt and shoving him against the lockers? NO! So why is Santana's form of bullying considered hilarious compared to Karofsky (when both characters are gay bullies), is it because she's a snippy little girl full of insecurities? If that's the case why the hell isn't anyone laughing at Quinn who can be just as mean and fully insecure about herself? Santana was malicious in last nights episode not only to Rory but to Finn and she wouldn't quit. Here's my theory, আপনি get what আপনি give, what goes around comes around and if আপনি play with আগুন you're gonna get burned.

Back in 3x04 she basically told Rory (the new kid) to go kill himself. Anyone who who'd heard Santana's words clearly when she looked that kid straight in the eye and told him "Do this school a favor and just disappear" would've automatically assumed she was dead series in telling this kid to commit suicide and আপনি wanna know the tragedy is that it sometimes happens like that. How the hell does she know he wasn't going to walk into a bathroom and shoot himself just after she left him standing? Why hasn't anyone in the fandom addressed this issue with Santana? And then last-night during the dodge-ball game she still wasn't satisfied with her victory she attacked Rory again and this time with physical harm causing him to bleed! How is the school condoning this ignorant brat's behavior? Why is she getting special treatment?

And now we come full বৃত্ত to Finn, a kid she has abused verbally and mentally for the last 3 years now and they were in the same স্বতস্ফূর্ত club, isn't everyone supposed to be বন্ধু there? Last time I checked everyone was ব্যক্ত to have become a family back in season 1, I guess that was erased with season 2 and now season 3. Santana has treated this kid like dirt from the very beginning, first manipulating him into throwing away his virginity which she took without any remorse অথবা guilt and now she's verbally attacking him constantly using all his insecurities such as his appearance, body type, singing, dancing, talent, intelligence and then going for the jugular দ্বারা basically telling him he'll never amount to any thing no matter what he does. That he's a disgrace of a human being. This is coming from a closet lesbian who hates herself because everyone else is living their lives and she refuses to and she wanted to hurt Finn for the sake of her fears and discomforts. I don't care how আপনি want to defend it, her actions had to have consequences and she got just that last-night.

First of all we know Finn's been struggling with his depression especially after his heart-wrenching breakdown last week and what about all the other crap he's had to deal with his life in the last 17yrs (2yrs if you're going দ্বারা the show). He's not just insecure about all his flaws, his future and whatnot I'm pretty sure his identity crises is rooted to a deeper, painful place like being without a father. Not knowing what he was like, unsure if he'll ever amount to the person he was অথবা if he'll remain a failure to his father. Now he's got a family with a new stepfather (who he hasn't really built a strong relationship with) and stepbrother (who's he's close বন্ধু with and happens to be gay) but he'd never had to deal with this before and suddenly they're there. He's stressed out, angry, anxious, uncertain and everyone expects too much of him when he doesn't even believe in his own abilities.

Am I condoning his actions for when he outed Santana (which wasn't intentionally)? No, he was a kid who was angry and in the heat of the moment he took a stand to the one person that has been making his life a living hell. Unlike Kurt, Finn didn't run though in the aftermath of the situation Finn looked worse simply because he's a straight, white, male. Had Kurt been in Finn's shoes with Santana the situation would've easily been overlooked. This to me is a classic case of "straights are evil and gays are good" writing. And to শীর্ষ it all off when that campaign tape got out we were supposed to sympathize with Santana after the way she treated Finn and Rory? I'm sorry but just because you're gay doesn't make আপনি better than everyone else nor does it give আপনি the right to treat someone in that disgusting format. How would she like it if the tables were turned on her and people were bullying her? It would hurt আরো than anything and now her secret is out all because she had to অনুরাগী the flames. She couldn't leave it alone and now everyone hates this kid for defending himself and those he cares about. I guess RIB wants us to know that not only do gay people exist but they're always right in any situation. I'm sorry but Santana was cruel and if you're going to attack a scared animal be prepared for consequences. Bullying is wrong স্বতস্ফূর্ত and it shouldn't matter what race, gender, sexual orientation অথবা religion! Everyone in the স্বতস্ফূর্ত fandom should be smart enough to know this!

mangie1995 I agree too some extent, Santana shouldn't have treated Finn, Rory or anyone the way she did, it was persistant and just plain mean, of course I don't blame Finn finally standing up to her, good on him! but that didn't stop me feeling sorry for her, I know what it's like to be closeted about sexuality so I've always been able to relate to Santana because I'm also kind of mean alot of the time because I'm angry while I've never been able to relate to the bullying storyline because thankfully I've never been bullied (seriously the last person that tried that in my school got expelled after about three incidents so nobody even dares insult anyonce.) so I did feel sympathy for her, but the thing I like about this is that they're putting both characters in the right and both in the wrong, they're making Santana act brutally mean and it's being adressed and yet they're still making us feel sorry her, it's the same with Finn, they're making him act kind of out of line which gives his character depth and personality as well as making him realistic but at the same time nobody can deny that he was fully justified in what he said, there isn't really a side to take, for me it's just a situation where both are in the right and in wrong at the same time, I don't see why we have to pick sides. PS glad to see you back! :D..also from what I've heard they're not going to be making the fandom feel sorry for Sebastian any time soon. ;)

I should say straight up that while I am a fan of Glee, I'm not really a member of the fandom so I don't really know what responses to these situations have been around this site and such. Also, I am a lesbian, so you might consider me biased, but it's just my viewpoint. Apologies for the length. It’s an interesting topic. X] Mm, I think I'll start small and start at the top. Yeah, sure, he's being a "PSA boy," but that's not against his will. As I'm sure you'll agree, he knows he is acting as a "PSA boy," but he loves what he's doing. He's changing minds and saving lives. That's a damn good thing. And in doing it, his talent isn't being overshadowed. He still gets his solos on Glee, doesn't he? He still sings. It's not like his musical scenes are being cut in favor of Klaine scenes that promote equality. Colfer is primarily a performer; only second is he acting as your "PSA boy." I think I'll jump into your whole Santana issue now. Santana... Yes, I agree she's a bully. Yes, I agree she goes too far, and yes, she should definitely be punished for all that she does. But the show is not supporting her words and actions. They are not making Santana out to be a perfect little heroine. I sure as fuck didn’t laugh when she threatened Rory; I know that threats like that can prove fatal. And I don’t know who you’ve been talking to, but I do recall discussing the episode with a group of people in my biology class, and it wasn’t a laughing matter for anyone. We all realized it was bad, and I can say with reasonable certainty that the majority of people understand that as well. People don't tend to laugh at death threats, especially because of the way pop culture is changing to favor underdogs. What Santana does is horrible, and everyone seems to know it. Actually, thinking about it, even the characters on the show know it. She [i]has[/i] been confronted, several times, by people calling her a bitch and telling her just how wrong she is. No, Santana is not being dealt with as severely as Karofsky, but people do realize she’s wrong. You have to remember where she's coming from, though. You have to have a little sympathy. Yes, I am asking for some of that. She's still human, and it's damn tough being gay. It's damn tough when you hate yourself and what you are. When you try to deny it but you ultimately can't change yourself. That's where Santana's at. She's lost and she's confused, she's hurting and she doesn't know where to turn. As with Karofsky, that causes her to lash out. My interpretation is that it's a sort of defense mechanism; she's pushing people away and making them fear her as an assurance that upon coming out she won't have as much to lose. (Remember, I'm not saying I disagree with all that you're saying, I'm just asking for a little sympathy on her behalf.) So in conclusion, the show is creating sympathy for gays but not making them out to be always-correct heroes. Santana’s actions are not simply being laughed off.

Pink_Love I agree with you 99%. I also hate && have noticed the homosexuals always being considered the victim even when they are not. only two things i disagree with and they are small things. 1) I still enjoy Santanas character. I know she was 100% wrong in what she did to Rory,&& Finn. But i still felt bad for her. I DO NOT FEEL BAD FOR HER BECAUSE SHE IS GAY && HAS NOT COME OUT YET THOUGH. Not because she was outed but because she is still a girl who is not ready for what life is about to throw at her. But i do believe she brought it on herself. 2)"first manipulating him into throwing away his virginity which she took without any remorse or guilt" I dont think Finn should be considered a victim in this case. She did not rape him. He knew exactly what he was doing. && he wanted it. That is 100% his fault. But i still loved Mash-up. because it made me interested in Glee again. even with its flaws. The first episode of the season i was excited during. it brought Finn in a lot more && made me feel for the characters again. but i do agree with your overall statement.

Yes I agree to some extent they were both wrong but Finn wouldn't have thrown Santana's sexuality in her face if she didn't brutally, relentlessly verbally assult him and his friends. He was pushed too far and after last weeks episode I'm surprised he didn't snap sooner. Not only that but she hit him at the end of the episode over a campaign tape he knew nothing about. If she was really that angry after the hallway inccident why didn't she get her back up during rock, paper, scissors? This hit home for me where Finn is concerned because like him I've been assulted verbally for my appearance, body type and told I was never good enough not just by more than one Santana in my life but also by teachers and my own father. Being called fat or stupid constantly in several different formats is the most degrating and humiliating experience ever! Like I said I'm a real life female version of Finn Hudson, made mistakes that hurt others, am very insecure about my weight and abilities, I'm really awkward (told by lots of people I'm a bull in a china shop), not confident, really naive, struggle with my future plans constantly and I've been known to put my foot in my mouth on more than one occasion plus I'm very opinionated. So I have to side with Finn because I am that kind of person and as harsh as it is to say this I probably would've done what Finn did to Santana and then maybe run away and cry, well probably go off and cry somewhere after being hit in the face:(

OceanCoast See, this is why I'm always iffy when it comes to Santana. She has her moments in which I really like her, but then in others, she can be downright mean and brutal to anyone unfortunate enough to be her target. I don't think it has anything to do with her being gay, or a gay thing at all for that matter. I think it mostly has to do with Santana's brutally honest, and ruthless personality. She tends to get away with more because she says what she's thinking CONSTANTLY and she never takes in consideration how her words might hurt someone else- so in away, she doesn't even realize she is bullying people most of the time. That doesn't make it right though, and last night I think she found out just how hurtful words can be when the tables are turned. If she would have backed off Finn like the Troubletones had asked, that conversation would have never even went 'there' in the first place. As bad as I felt for her when they played the commercial, she essentially brought it all on herself.

r-pattz One more thing I'd like the mention that I somehow forgot earlier. The outing scene, where Finn lashes back at Santana about her sexuality. I was rewatching the second half of the episode... It's one of those scenes that just hits home nice and hard. I do understand that Santana was pushing Finn to his limit. I get that very few people would be unable to withstand that abuse. But Santana was at least attacking Finn for his physical attributes, his body, which isn't private in that, you know, people look at Finn on a daily basis. Also, his singing and dancing are out in the open for anyone to see. But Finn was attacking Santana at a much deeper level. She's much further from coming to terms with herself than Finn is. Finn knows he's bad at dancing; he's admitted it several times, and with a smile. He may not be confident in his body, but he is confident in his singing ability. He's further along than Santana in loving who he is. Santana has barely begun to accept herself, as I see it. Sexual orientation is a deeper problem than stage talent or even body image. (Not that I'm saying that's not important or anything, just that sexuality is harder to work through. I've been through troubles with both; I think I'm pretty fair judge.) Finn was being much more cruel in what he said to Santana than she to him. Now, you say he didn't intentionally out her. I agree that he never meant for the whole world to know, but they were in a crowded hallway. He knew that other people would probably hear him, but he was so angry that he didn't care. He thought the positives outweighed the possible negatives. So yes, they were both wrong, but Finn's attack on Santana was more cruel and destructive than Santana's attacks on Finn.

ForsakenMoon19 @r-pattz while I appreciate and agree to some extent that Finn was also in the wrong you can't honestly have me believe that what he said wasn't justified. As I said I'm a Finn Hudson I've been attacked by more Santanas in a lifetime and it's no where near less painful than sexual orientation. I can't ever understand your veiwpoint personally BUT I can sympathisise with you and you're correct no one deseves to be outed not even the worst of people. But here's the thing, Finn is not as confident as you seem to think he is, just because he puts on a goofy smile every once in a while when someone teases him about his dancing or singing doesn't mean he's all happy and bubbly inside. It's just the opposite and worse because he's putting on a mask to hide away his pain and he's also hiding behinde Rachel or at least using her (not in a bad way) as an emotional crutch. Does he hate himself as much as Santana? No but that doesn't mean he's happy or confident in himself. He's scared, depressed and angry deep inside and last week was just the tip of the ice berg for this kid, who just had all his hopes and dreams dashed away. To be told in this weeks episode that he was basically nothing but a pathetic, untalented, stupid, fat loser who will never amount to anything and will be nothing for the rest of his life is the worst most horrendous feeling ever! It's lonely and insufferable I know this because I've been in his shoes and I'm still in his shoes. Let me tell you something, yes having your sexual orientation slammed in your face is horrible and frightening BUT being constantly put down for phyical appearance, body type basically any flaw you're born with can cut like a knife. Kids including myself (as it pains me to admit) have either contemplated or commited suicide because of bullying. Santana is a bully, she bullied Finn until he couldn't take it any more and he fought back but even the way he told her off wasn't half as bad as the way she viciously tore him apart two minutes ago. She provoked him, as I said had I'd been in his position I would've done just about anything to make her stop. Again I don't condone how Finn handled the situation but Santana didn't give him any choice. If you play with fire you're eventually gonna get burned.

r-pattz ^ No, Finn wasn't justified, but neither was Santana. They were both way out of line. It's just my personal opinion that Finn was more so. And I do think it's less painful. You can believe differently, but you're straight, whereas I've been through both. (Hell, most kids go through things similar to Finn. Not all to the same level, clearly, but to some extent everyone can sympathize with Finn.) I do realize Finn is still really self-conscious, but Santana is more so because she's gotten essentially nowhere on the road to acceptance. As I said before Finn is beginning to accept himself. He's a pretty honest kid a lot of the time, I think we can agree there, and it's undeniable that in, say, the booty camp episodes he acknowledged his bad dancing and laughed about it. Or even take the Born This Way episode for example, where his shirt was "CAN'T DANCE." That seems pretty damn accepting to me, to be able to advertise your flaws. Santana couldn't wear her lesbian/Lebanese shirt. Now, I hate to play this card, I'm not trying to sound like a complete jerk, which I know I will, but look at the statistics. I'm sorry you've been so depressed and all, yeah? But queer kids have been proven to be more prone to things like depression, and about 40% of teen suicides are by queers even though we're only about 2-8% of the total population. Harder. With how he handled the situation... I'm not saying he shouldn't have lashed out. Anyone would have. I would have. But he didn't have to do so in such a cruel and public way. Maybe he could have, I don't know, used the sexuality card in private, which would have been much more effective. You're going to say when you're pushed that far you're not thinking straight, right? Well sure, I agree, I'm just pointing out he wasn't as justified as you claim he was. BTW, it may seem like I am, but it's not like I'm trying to defend Santana just because she's as queer as I am. I do honestly believe in what I'm saying. Just felt like I needed to say that, lol.

I am FUMING at this show when it come to the bullying issues, I have never liked th character on Santana because she is a nasty horrible character, never found her funny or cool just abusive and when they started using her in the closteness as na excuse for her behaviour it fumed me even more! Now i would never condone anyone outing anyone, but i cant find it in myself to feel sorry for her. I, like many people across the world, have been through this form of bullying that Santana dishes out,a nd it is insecure little douches who do it! Her bulling needs to be addressed before anything, especially the way she has treated Rachel for the past 3 years!

OceanCoast Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with R-pattz just a bit. I've been bullied and picked on in highschool, but I don't think anything could hurt as much as being outed on television. That's something deep and personal that no one has privy too. If you can't relate to the gay angle, just take your deepest and darkest insecurity that you don't tell anyone about, then imagine being in Santana's shoes, seeing it played on tv for the world to see. I'm not in anyway blaming Finn, as Santana brought it on herself, I'm just saying that the unfortunate outcome was 100% brutal.

ratava123 I definitely understand where you are coming from but I don't really think that Dave or Santana being a part of the gay community had anything to do with their bullying. It's more of the insecurities thing and it just so happens to be that they're gay is the issue they are dealing with. Secondly, yes. I do think that Santana is a bully, but she's not really inflicting physical harm like Dave was doing to Kurt so people don't see it as awful even though it is just as damaging. And the thing about Rory. I don't think she meant to tell him to go commit suicide. I personally thought she meant for him to just go back to where he came from. The one thing that I don't understand is why you think that Finn is depressed. I don't see that at all, I mean sure he's gone through some tough times but I never really see Finn as being very sad and neither has anyone really brought up that Finn might be depressed. Then lastly, yeah. I do feel bad for Santana for what happened to her. After she saw that campaign ad my heart broke for her when she said that she hasn't even told her parents yet. But the thing is. I don't blame Finn for her outing. All he did was ask her why she won't come out of the closet then promptly call her a coward. At no point in time did he call attention to others and out her publicly. There was just some stupid cheerleader who decided to take what she overheard and spread it around. In the end it's the person who made the new commercials fault. Even though Santana has been cruel to Finn for the past 2 or 3 years he's never really done anything back. All it seems like he's doing is trying to help her. So yeah. I think I'm done now. :) And if you actually made it this far congrats to you. You're awesome. :D

Crime-Drama-Bee Wow- your article is wonderfully written. I'm honestly not siding with either Finn or Santana as people, (though with just the confrontation I side with Finn). The writers are sick and twisted and for some reason they enjoy destroying everyone and mishandling storylines. I'm going to write this in a Q/A format just because that will be easier for me to sort through what I want to say. "In my opinion..." Is Santana a bully? Yes. She has always been, and we come to that age-old conclusion that there must be a reason. She has said that the reason she's so mean is because of all of her feelings, and I'm pretty sure that her home life isn't quite ideal. Do her victims deserve it? No. She has bullied almost everyone, mostly with insults. Does she get off easier than other bullies on the show? Yes. Verbal (and cyber) bullying has not been punished as much as physical bullying, even though she has done all three. She rarely gets called out on her behavior and everyone else just puts up with her. What about the "gay bully" aspect? I don't think that her being gay is the reason she gets away with her bullying. Since the beginning she has been mean and the faculty let her get away with it because they don't want to have to deal with her. Now that things have changed, the writers are pinning emotions and reasons to her. I don't think it's her being gay, but more the fact that there is reason and she'll need to come to terms with herself, that the writers write her as they do and she can act without consequence. Why is Santana so d*mn mean? Because it's her defense mechanism. Some people just work like that, especially when they are battling internal problems. She doesn't have any other way of protecting herself so if people get too close she can push them away. It's the same as Quinn building walls of steel to house her insecurities and keep emotions in and people out. Santana probably doesn't have anyone to talk to about her feelings except for Brittany, and has grown up thinking that she'll never make it in the world without being mean. She is angry inside and everything comes out as viscousness. Are her actions justified? No. If you just look at the aspect of her being a bully than no, definately not. Even if there is something behind her behavior, it doesn't mean it's alright for her to act this way to people who aren't at fault for her anger. Do I support her bullying? No. I do not support any bullying, but it doesn't mean I can't sympathize too and try to figure out why. Is Santana a bad person? No. I don't think she is. I think that if she learns who she is and how to be happy that she will taking out her frustration on others. Is her bullying of Finn worse than everyone else? He is one of her main victims and she always insults his appearance and his naivety. However, I don't think her insults of him were any worse than something she'd throw at someone else. Just because they show her bullying Finn alot doesn't mean she doesn't bully anyone else just as much. Is Finn depressed? I don't think he's struggling with full-on depression. I'm not an expert, but I think that while he's upset and has some issues to work through, I think he is alright. Of course he has hopes and dreams too, which is why he broke down to Rachel last ep. But I think that his feelings aren't any different from anyone else. I think of depression as more serious and chronic. I think that feeling depressed is different from suffering from depression, if that makes any sense. Is Finn to blame for Santana being outed? No. He didn't out her, and he never intended to. Maybe he didn't think before he acted, but it was more of an intended low blow as a comeback to everything she said, and less premeditated. Did Santana deserve what happened in result of the fight? No. Not at all. Nobody deserves to have their deepest secret televised for a whole state without their knowledge or permission. Especially in an ad against lesbians (a lesbian Cheerio captain? That's the candidate's smear campaign?)

ForsakenMoon19 @ratava123 you don't recognize it in him because you can't relate to him in that way where as I can because I am a real Finn Hudson in person and I'm telling you he's showing all signs of depression and denial is one of them! The only difference between me and Finn is that he hides his pain using jokes, smiles and even (shamelessly but not wrongfully) Rachel as a means for support or distraction where as I wear my heart on my sleeve. Some people are just better at hiding it than others but that doesn't mean it doesn't bottle up and explode at some point, we saw part of Finn's emotional breaking point in "First Time" but that's just the beginning wait and see. And let me tell you something else, sex doesn't fix everything. Just because Rachel gave him comfort that night does not mean his issues, pain, fears and problems have all vanished she just took his mind off it briefly. Also how can you be so quick so say that what Santana told Rory wasn't an intent to commit suicide? Anyone with alot of pain building up inside or anyone with sense would know that telling someone to disappear is almost like handing that person (your telling off) a gun and asking them to pull the trigger. Or worse imagine if she had said those words to the wrong person like Karofsky before he became Mr. Anti-bully and we remember how angry he was in the beginning and how violent he was. He could very well have been the poster boy for another Columbine incident at McKinley, dangerous and unpredictable. So you see where I'm going with this now? Try to remember I'm not posting comments based on the show my points of view are from a realistic standpoint. @everyone while I enjoy reading all these delightful comments, so glad everyone is interested in this topic, I need to roll out my two cents for the final time. Some of you seemed to be missing the point in the part about gay bullies, I never said being gay had anything to do with it what I said was just because Santana and Karofsky are gay doesn't give them a free pass to bully people. It's the fault of RIB and the writers, they are unconscionably making all their gay characters sympathetic (for some like Kurt its a good thing), even their bullying gay characters and that sends the wrong message! Its saying to younger viewers out there that even if you're gay you're more entitled to bully others than someone who isn't gay and bullies others and that's the point I'm trying to make! Bullying people is wrong period! I don't condone it at all and there's no excuses for it! Physical or verbal abuse is just as hurtful and just as bad, sometimes verbal is worse because words can sting farther than any bruise and confuse your mind into believing in that abuse! I don't give a crap what people are; straight, gay, male, female, teen, adult, race, religion BULLYING IS INEXCUSABLE! No one gets a free pass at that! If glee wants to send a proper message about bullying they need to give their bullying characters like Santana and Dave consequences. Dave got off way too easy I personally feel like he should've gotten expelled and then was forced to work hard on earning the trust of the school system instead of pledging to stop bullying full-front just because some chic (who is also a bully) blackmailed him with his secret. And Santana well I rest my case on her, the way the writers wrote that scene made her come out smelling like a rose (according to the fandom) compared to her two victims who were mercilessly ripped apart for no damn reason. If they wanted smart viewers like me to feel sorry for Santana they failed miserably because in the two seasons that she has been on I have seen not one demonstration of humanity that wasn't outside her little obsession with Brittany. Maybe if they showed that side of her, possibly away from the rest of the glee kids, I'd be more sympathetic to her but they didn't so I'm not and I can't because I know what its like to be one of her victims. Finn might've been out of line but he wasn't wrong entirely and he was only defending himself against his bully. She has treated him poorly since the beginning of Glee and then went after someone who's been more of a friend to him than anyone in the Glee club, an innocent kid who did absolutely nothing to provoke her abuse! She abused and ripped these two kids apart in ways that make my stomach sick and she enjoyed every minute of making them both miserable and afraid of her. Well here's the thing kids, if you're gonna keep poking a dog with a sick eventually its gonna bite you and Santana was at the wrong place at the wrong time when Finn finally snapped. He had every right to defend himself and his friends and hurting her wasn't his intention but he needed to get her to stop. What was he supposed to do sit there and take it day after day after day until he snapped to a point where his actions might've taken a more violent approach? No, he fought back because that's what Santana asked for when she intentionally walked right up to him and tore into him like a ballistic cannibal. My sympathy and support stays with Finn and Rory and every other victim in Santana's path. However horrible it was for her secret to get out the way it did, she brought the whole thing on herself right from the start. If it wasn't going to be Finn it probably would have been another victim of hers like Rachel (and I'm not even a fan of her but even I would've been thrilled that she'd take that stand to Santana).

r-pattz ^ I have to admit I didn't read that entire comment, as I'm supposed to be doing a research paper right now lol, but I did read the first part of the "@everyone" bit. I see what you're getting at, and I'm not missing the point, I assure you. I know exactly what you're saying; I'm just disagreeing. They are punishing the characters, both the gay and straight ones, for any wrongdoings. Santana got what was coming to her, you said that yourself. The wrong Finn did her was at least equal to the wrongs she did him. And sure, the writers are creating sympathy for the the bullies, but that doesn't mean they're supporting their actions. It's just a sign of good writing. It takes a damn good writer to create honest sympathy for the"bad guy," which is the role Santana has been taking on more and more. Open your mind to Santana a little...

I admire you for being strong that despite everything you've been through you're still keeping your head up high..=) i just want you to know that im proud of you and you're such an inspiration.. =) and about this Santana stuff.. I dont feel for her at all.. Sorry! She just had a taste of her own medicine or shall we say KARMA..
