An interesting, realistic protagonist who can fend for himself is much আরো interesting to read about than a flat, bland, boring, pathetic, unrealistic Mary Sue. Character development is extremely well done in Harry Potter. Each character has a distinct personality with a distinct history and distinct hobbies and interests and connections to other characters. Twilight? Not so much. At least the females in Harry Potter can do things for themselves without needing a man stalking her every moment of her life. Hermione is very intelligent (and it shows. With Bella, we are told she is smart but we never see that; on the contrary, we see quite the opposite) and Hermione can fight for herself and for her friends. Same with Ginny and Luna and টঙ্কস্ and Bellatrix and Narcissa and Molly and Fleur and more! In fact, the only female who cannot fight for herself and cannot get over herself ends up being a depressed drunkard (Winky). Messages, of course. Harry Potter messages include: -Lessons about growing up -Friendship is a very strong bond -Love is the most powerful thing in the world -Fear can make a person into a monster -Death is not the worst thing in the world -Family and বন্ধু are আরো important than money -Physical appearances aren't everything -Bravery is very valuable -Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure -Depth and understanding can be just as valuable as book smarts and logic -AND MANY MANY MORE! Twilight Messages: -Pedophilia is okay because আপনি can't help it -Abuse is romantic -Stalking is hot -Females can't do anything -If আপনি don't have a boyfriend, there is no point in living -Physical appearances are the most important aspect of a person -It's okay to abuse your বন্ধু because they don't really matter anyway -Skip college, get pregnant as a teenager, and you'll be happy as can be -Immortality is the best thing because death is EVIL! Even if আপনি have to maim your soul to avoid death, আপনি should do it Then, the লেখা in Harry Potter is pure genius. Not only is the style amazing, but it is extremely clever. The code to get into the Ministry of Magic: 62442 MAGIC Foreshadowing for Sirius's death is in St. Mungo's Diagon Alley Diagonalley Diagonally Not to mention all the character's names. They are all specifically chosen to fit the characters. Twilight? Nothing special about the writing. Plus, there are many instances of incorrect word usage, the same things are used over and over to an obnoxious level (ex. "liquid topaz eyes"), and how many times does SMeyer use the word, "chagrin"? Does she even know what it means? My last point: humor. Harry Potter can be quite funny. Look at some of ফ্রেড and George's jokes! Then, there is some stuff coming from Ron and Hermione bickering, and some stuff from Ginny. Twilight humor? "Oh, আপনি owe me a yellow porsche!" Haha? Did I miss something? How is this funny? It's যেভাবে খুশী and stupid. A pretty pathetic attempt at humor, really.
