CASE meant to ask if he should be trying to kiss back, or something of the like. But he couldn’t really try that question again after TARS told him to take his shirt off. Something felt very strange inside of him, and he glanced around, core whirring again with nervousness. “Master might be home soon…” Yet his fingers drift at the hem of the grey cloth, ready to tug up, already exposing his hip-bones. Well, where they would be were he human.

Smirking now, even CASE’s comment about their Master cannot dampen his mood. TARS watches the shirt go intently, his internal processes working at a millionth of a second to formulate potential models for what his next move will be. He pushes the shirt off CASE’s shoulders helpfully, then and runs his hands over his exposed body, much preferring the feeling of purring machine components to actual human flesh.

Cooperstation was amazing and Romilly could admit that, no matter what other  thoughts  were  running  through  her head.  The  advancements in technology were  ahead of their time…  But there was  a tiny voice  in her head that reminded her  she was just behind.  No one could really tell her how much  time  had  passed,  which was  for the better  considering how those years— 

twenty-three years,  four months, eight days

—  waiting for everyone to return from Miller’s planet had affected her so thoroughly. 

It was all very…nostalgic.  She wasn’t ignorant  about  O’Neill cylinders. It 

was different being on one, though.  But instead of moving away from the 

plains and  farmland they  had been forced to take up on Earth,  that’s all 

she could see.  And  she felt  like she failed,  as she stood  in front  of the 

large windows  of the hospital,  right hand  grasping  her  left  bicep.  The 

physicist couldn’t help  but close  her eyes  briefly in mourning  at the feel 

TARS had been picked up in open space after the tesseract ordeal. He’d been on Cooperstation ever since; the first weeks or so spent sitting in a dysfunctional heap with only the smatterings of AI consciousness. Apparently no one found it worth the time to repair him. Until they found Coop, that is.

After repairs to his metal plinths and screens, he spent his time roaming the space station aimlessly. He was a Marine, but now war was extinct. He was a astronaut, but now—seeing the amazing human effort that was Cooperstation— his sensibilities told him the Endurance mission was over. He felt no motivation to forge new human connections or to continue his gig as a companion. Cooper had gone off to Edmund’s planet after Dr.Brand. Doyle was dead. For once in his life, TARS went quiet. But an odd nagging feeling persistently caused Romilly to cross his thoughts. The time they spent together couldn’t be overlooked, and yet, he hadn’t gone to see her yet. His compassion setting kept him from totally purging Romilly from his data banks.

He went to the hospital donning his flesh form, the space he’d occupied during the bulk of those 23 years. Maybe she’d like to see a familiar face. More importantly, TARS couldn’t predict with any accuracy how she’d react to seeing a monolithic robot since the explosion.

TARS smacked CASE’s spindly arm away, his face registering the appropriate amount of surprise.

"Not a chance, CASE. I just seem funnier next to your void of humor." 

➥The metallic appendage quickly snapped back in place, the robot growing still once more; save for the constant amounts of code flashing over his display screen.

"True, true, but I suppose that’s your job ultimately. They programmed you to be more of a…Er… comedic entertainer."

"Hey, we gotta retain some kind of defining features for ourselves, yes? The humans like that."

CASE found the will to form coherent sentences taxing under TARS’ kisses. Each were so very warm, with ghostings of sweet air, and eventually sharper bites. There was no way to leave marks sure, but he still felt like each touch left some kind of sign. Inside he felt changed and enlightened. And fantastic. “It’s hot.” He mumbles, and his fingers grasp at the others bare shoulders. “Your breath… It’s so…” Breathless CASE takes a moment to gather his thoughts. “Strangely intimate.” And he only wants more. “Should I…?”

TARS laughed lightly at his flustered struggle to communicate. It was incredibly difficult for him to let his mouth leave CASE’s sensuous and excitable skin, but he does anyway, taking a step back and inspecting the other breathless robot. He reads his face for the tell-tale signs of desire.”Yes, please take off that dirty work shirt.”

"Keep talking to me CASE…." TARS spoke into his neck. He wanted to be reminded every second that he was with CASE and not

. He continues placing warm, frenetic kisses at his neck and down to his collar bone, wondering if what works on Master will work now. There’s only one way to find out: He wraps his arms tightly around the cleaning robot’s thin frame and gradually begins turning the kissing into aggressive nipping.

He looked down and booped CASE’s display screen. 

"And I’ve missed your low humor setting. People are forgetting how funny I actually am…"

➥ CASE’s middle sections tilted backwards in response to the sudden tap, before returning to their previous position. He then returned the gesture promptly, reaching out to jab TARS in the side.

"Oh, believe me, it’s still as low as ever…Why, am I really that much of an amusement to damage

A few flashes of his monitor light and a dull buzz. Laughter, perhaps?
