It was the damn costumes and hair dos. And, I think, the stupidest thing of all was Peyton saying "I want to be free and in love" and then twirling around. How flipping stupid.

1treehillfan Yeah, Joy was pretty good except for her hair in the beginning and the dress was bad, too. Basically all they did for Peyton and Brooke to make them "'40s" was frizz up their hair. It was soooo stupid.

tushtush I agree with a lot of this. It was OK, but i agree with you on the 'pretty girl line' (even though I ship Leyton, using that was just out of order...) Chad shouldn't have taken on something so big for his writing debut, as he hasn't yet developed the skills to pull it off.

Anyhow, about your article/the episode: I see where all the haters of this episode are coming from. Way I saw it, this was Chad's first time writing. I thought the idea was amazing. The subplots were very clever and the thought of recapturing OTH's history with a twist was a very good idea. But it wasn't executed well enough in a lot of cases. Chad, Lee, & James' performances were weak for one. And a lot of the dialogue could have been much better. But I applaud Chad's writing efforts. [b] do you think im pretty? [/b] Remember, it was the 40s, so Peyton's character (though her essence remained intact) was tweaked. She was just joking around and being flirtatious 40s style. I wouldn't take it to heart. The first time I watched that scene I was like "what the crap Peyton would never say that." It was the fact that brooke's money problems were becoming a huge issue. and so in the AU she got desperate. and got tempted - but her big heart kept her honor intact. She didn't sell her soul for money. And that does the real brooke justice. So I actually didn't mind brooke in the AU. Nah, this is the 40s so it had to have the cheese :P but I still think Hil pulled off the cheese well. Chad on the other hand got so focused on his script and making the episode, that I think he forgot to ACT, lol. poor guy was just out to lunch. Anyhow, I think hil would do a GREAT dying scene in the real OTH world, heh. She was strong in 316 and did a fantastic job with the shooting stomach pain at the end of this episode. I think they could have pulled the foot pop off if Hales leaned into nate causing him to tilt back. then the foot pop would have been from an angle, and therefore more practical. 1treehillfan I agree with you abs on the foot pop, the brooke thing, and the changing accents thing. The changing accents really bothered me. It's like at some points they would sound normal and then at others they had "Southern" accents. Lame. I guess it just has to do with what scenes they shot and when and the awful directing from Mark who obviously, in some scenes, forgot to tell them to use their southern accent ;) And, is it just me, or is CMM rather selfish? Because it seemed to me he was in like EVERY scene!!

tvfan5 the foot pop and the twirl were too much for me lol. yes, i love leyton and naley, but those two things were not my favorite lol.

saBRUCAS I agree with everything Dawn! Peyton and pretty girl? wtf?!?! Peytons acting really bothered me. Especially the "I want to be free and in love" ughh! I dont care if it was the 1940's it didnt fit her character and she just couldnt pull it off. Also Peyton dying was awful acting. Also hated Lucas and Peytons accents. They had them one minute and didnt the second. It got so annoying by the end. The Naley foot pop thing was completely unnecessary and so so corny. Over all a huge let down.
