People tell আপনি to “be careful what আপনি wish for” for a reason.
Let me introduce myself. I’m Cari Goldman, 14 years old. And I am a resident of…South Korea.
Seoul, to be exact. And yes, I’m not Korean, but I’m living here. Against my will. Unfortunately, I’m still a minor and my amazing parents have to make decisions for me.
It all started one মাস ago, when I was actually happy and still living in America, where I at least knew the dominant language of the country. It was Saturday, so I was being lazy in my room, পাঠ করা জাপানি কমিকস মাঙ্গা while dangling off my bed. It’s rather fun to be able to look up and see the whole world upside down. It also helps build strength in your legs. Anyways.
“Honey~!” Dad had called when he entered my room. “Guess what?”
“What?” I answered, totally not interested.
“I’ll tell you…after আপনি sit up. Gosh, Cari, I told আপনি not to hang off your বিছানা like that; all the blood is going to drain to your head!”
“Just tell me already,” I said, keeping my position.
My father, unable to keep a secret for আরো than two minutes, burst out, “I got a job in Korea!”
“And?”
“And we’re moving there পরবর্তি month!”
In my mind, this is what I heard: Job. Korea. Moving.
I guess I had been hanging upside-down for way too long, because my mind হারিয়ে গেছে all sanity and I toppled onto the ground.
And so. Here I am. In Korea.
My parents were considerate enough to enroll me in a school where they would help me take lessons in English, because otherwise I would surely FAIL. But school is school, and I hated it, especially since I had NO friends.
“WHY!?!?!?” I shouted at the sky when I finally arrived at the door of our new house. “Why does this have to happen to me!?!?”
I was mad. In a word.
Anyways, while I was busy moping at my own front door, I found myself thinking that I wish I could be teleported off into a different world and never have to see the members of my family ever again.
I slowly stood, feeling like I wanted to মুষ্ট্যাঘাত someone. I would have to find my older brother immediately. He made an amazing punching bag. He was practically invincible, too, and had no complaints.
I stepped forward…and tripped.
“YOU STUPID ROCK!!!!!!” I shouted, leaping back to my feet and pointing a finger at the culprit of my clumsiness: a rock.
But…this rock seemed kind of strange. For one thing, it had definitely NOT been there when I first got to my house. And…it was kind of sparkly.
So of course, I did the obvious: I picked it up. I mean, it’s SPARKLY.
It was very sparkly. Huh. It seemed like it was shining even more. Wait a minute…something was wrong.
It seemed like the sun’s power had been stored inside that rock, because after a moment, rays of light flashed from it and I went blind. My head spun and I fell onto the ground.
Opening my eyes, I found out that I wasn’t exactly in front of my house anymore.
I was still holding the rock. Of course. I mean, it was sparkly. I had to keep it.
There was a small town in front of me that definitely was not there before. Some guy walked past me, staring. A weird animal pounced along behind him. What the heck? I blinked. But yes. The animal was a crocodile. Walking on two feet. It was blue. With some red scales.
Huh?
So, being me, I yelled at the heavens:
“WHERE AM I!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?”
Tell me what আপনি think! =3
