Well, it depends. In many tales, they are half man half নেকড়ে creatures who turn into নেকড়ে under the full moon. Under the Twilight series, they turn into নেকড়ে when they want to and when they're mad. Normally, they become নেকড়ে-মানুষ because they are bitten, but here it's genetics.
