I think he could've been a great character, but it sucked that he really did have only one purpose and it was just convenient for the story to throw another hellhound in it.

He was super disappointing. I heard he was supposed to be a really important character, then he dies in the first episode? What? and he comes back much later only to die immediately after?

He seemed pretty cool and had a lot of potential, but it was clear that they didn't have ANYWHERE near the amount of time to develop all their characters.
