I looked to my right and to my left. The Cornucopia was in the center of the সৈকত we were on. In front of us was a vast, beautiful, ocean. I saw one of the platforms, empty, with black and red marks all around it. Before the start of the games, mechanics set up bombs around the platforms, pressure-activated, so if a tribute ever steps off the platform before the countdown has ended and the কামান fired for the start of the games, the bombs go off around your platform. It was disgusting, the kid obviously couldn't handle the pressure. Another loud noise, the same as the first, interrupted my thoughts and just like before a কামান followed BOOM! Once again I knew it was too soon and I saw the end platform empty with black and red stains around it. These weaklings were dropping like flies.
"As আপনি can see two tributes have already stepped off their platforms. Stephen Leigh, the boy from 8, and Gretah Jasti, the girl from 10. What a shame!" The voice of Claudius Templesmith announced over the intercom.

60, 59, 58... The countdown went. I took this as an extra opportunity to make my plan. That something in the crater could be valuable, I decided that's where the careers and I would be going after we got a few kills in. 31, 30, 29... I then scanned the Cornucopia.
Where was everything? The giant horn of the Cornucopia was there, just like every বছর but with nothing in it. There were a few things scattered around it but not like the usual year. The adrenaline ran through my body as I jumped off the platform and sprinted to the spear. I scored an 11 in training দ্বারা throwing spears at targets in the scoring room. I threw my spear 3 times at the 3 targets across the large white room. Each time, I hit the dead center of each one and each ended up shattering into hundreds of pieces. The scorekeepers were happy with me. Training for 17 years of my life, I didn't expect anything less.
My auburn hair flew around my face as I sprinted towards my necessity to kill.

The কামান fired for the start of the games and I booked it. My plan was to go into the Cornucopia area, grab something semi-valuable অথবা anything I could get my hands on, and get out. Towards the Cornucopia আপনি could see there were very few items scattered around the area, until I saw a backpack strap sticking out of the sand. A couple feet away there was another one.
"Erika, quick! The backpack right here!" I shouted to her while pointing to the ground where I ran over. I looked around me to see the tributes dispersing. BOOM! I saw a girl fall to the ground and a career running from her to his পরবর্তি kill. I believe that was Topaz, the District 1 male tribute. He scored a 10 in the training room and he probably did so with those knives. I mentally make a note to myself that he's probably the best ছুরি wielder in the arena this year. I look back to Erika, my twin sister, to make sure she had the pack. She was already running to the jungle before I caught her playful gaze which also had a serious tone which probably translated to,
"Hurry up slowpoke!" BOOM! BOOM! The career's were on a killing spree, just like every year.
Erika and I were twins, brother and sister from District 9. We both knew we both couldn't win but it most likely would of increased one of our chances if we were to work together. I caught up to her and we sprinted for a good 10 মিনিট into the jungle, we slowed down to a jog but we both knew it was too early to stop, so we stayed at that pace for 30 minutes, passing odd plants, and beautiful flowers. We did stop to collect a few berries, nuts, and roots that we knew for sure are edible and stashed them in a small pouch that we had found in my backpack. In our backpacks we also had two sleeping bags, a first-aid kit, a lunch box of fruits, I had 3 packs of nuts, and she had a packet of bacon. We lucked out on this one.
"Erika, we got a lot of good stuff." I optimistically announced.
"I know, this is a good start Erin, but we have to keep on going. I know the career's are probably heading to the crater, there were আরো supplies there I believe, but were bound to see some other tributes heading this way soon if we don't keep moving." She explained. We both received an 8 in the training scores because we could run. We ran fast, and long periods of time. We may not of gotten a 10, অথবা 11, but when all hope is lost, the last thing আপনি can do is run and that's what were good at. Ever since we were young we loved to run, we ran to school, we ran home, we ran to help, we always ran. It was just something my sister and I had in common that we both knew if we were ever angry, sad, অথবা upset. We would run together.
When our mother died, we ran. When our closest friend died to the Games, we ran. When we were chosen for the Hunger Games, we ran, right up to the stage. However this was the first time we were able to really run together since the night before the Reaping. We ran... until we were electrocuted. BOOM! BOOM!

"Let the 60th Hunger Games begin!" Claudius shouted with anticipation. I jumped off my platform and raced for anything. I searched around, kicked sand, avoided tributes near me until I saw my only defense. Lodged, barely sticking out of the sand, the handle of a sword. It was a beautifully clean cut, molted to perfection. I didn't go into the fight but instead if a tribute thought he অথবা she could take me I would প্রদর্শনী them a thing অথবা two.
I didn't use it that দিন but I saw the boy and girl from District 7 die, a girl from one of the higher districts was killed, and a boy from 5, 6, অথবা 3. I guessed I would just have to wait until that night to find out.
The night went দ্বারা fairly quickly. We all stayed on our toes in case someone was stupid enough to try to attack us. The career's and I consist of myself. Tiara Dirth being the district one girl, Topaz Hilo from one, Helena Dimella from two, Patton Ratnam from two, Hollyn Cretin from four, Pierre Oulette from four, and Thorne Bagg from five. I wasn't the buffest girl like Helena অথবা Hollyn but I was pretty fast. Topaz wasn't the buffest either but he looked like he could handle himself from quite a few of the other tributes. Helena, Patton, Hollyn, Pierre, and Thorne were all bulging with muscle. They could easily take Topaz and I, but I think we were আরো brains than brawns.
We head to the crater, carrying almost everything we excavated from the Cornucopia area which wasn't much but it would last us at least 3 days. We approach the flat middle surface in the giant bowl and we made out the objects, it was আরো supplies! Probably ten times as much as we have, maybe even more! We are all very excited at this point, good for us, bad for everyone else.
We set up tents and camp, this is a great start compared to some of the other games. It's almost completely black until we hear the echo of screams, not one, not two, not three... but more. Almost everyone, maybe even everyone. It was impossible to be sure, but we were sure about one thing. Whatever made them scream didn't affect us. I hear two cannons and this worried me, the gamemakers do send in genetically enhanced creatures to add some entertainment in the games but they would rarely ever kill a tribute. At this point my thinking is the gamemakers released monsters into the game and they are probably headed for us. Now I'm really worried, so we finish up camp and all stare into the jungle... waiting for something to pop out at us and kill us all. Nothing ever comes.
The anthem plays and I know it's time to find out the 5 who died during the দিন and see the 2 who died before the Games even began.

That leaves myself and Topaz from one, Helena and Patton from two, the girl from three, Hollyn and Pierre from four, Thorne from five, both from six, the girl from eight, the twins from nine, the boy from ten, the boy from eleven, and both from twelve.
The anthem finished and I was left to my thoughts. I hate this. All of a sudden a small little বাক্স fell from the sky lightly, it's silver parachute catching the wind. It's my first sponsor gift, and possibly the first gift at all! I quickly open it up to find pain killers... what would I need these for? I guess I'll have to find out and hope I can put it to good use!
