If আপনি don't want to, don't do it. I honestly don't think লেখা fanfic will improve your লেখা unless আপনি really want to do it; and when লেখা any sort of story, you're হৃদয় really does have to be in it otherwise your characters will be all flat and your storyline will fall to pieces. লেখা fanfic is like লেখা anything else; it will only improve your লেখা if আপনি actually want to do it in the first place. And I personally think it is quite good to make up your own characters and storyline-don't get me wrong, there are some good fanfics out there, but for every good one there are about a hundred rubbish ones-and it does stretch your imagination a little আরো to come up with your own plot and characters. That's my উপদেশ anyway.
I think আপনি should give it a go. It gives আপনি some practice to fiddle with plots/characters, so আপনি can learn how to stick to a plot and make it make sense and/or practice keeping a character in character. আপনি also get feedback, which is invaluable.
If it's something আপনি want to do, go for it. লেখা will improve the আরো আপনি engage in it. When I first started লেখা অনুরাগী fictions, they sucked. But the আরো I went with it, the better it became. The same will happen for you, but only if it's something আপনি enjoy doing. If আপনি don't enjoy writing, then it won't be a good idea to start because your story isn't going to turn out as good as it can be. Like LaughingHyena said, your হৃদয় has to be in it for it to work.
